Ready to Understand

Gintama had arrived in Elestia from Hoenn several weeks prior and had used to the time to get used to the environment. It was very different, the Elestia region seeming to have far more darker secrets than any of the other regions he had read up on.

"Guess there's no use waiting around anymore. I haven't regained any more memories and I don't want to lose the few that I have because I'm sitting around doing nothing." Gintama jumped off the roof of the house he had rented out and began to make his way towards the Prof's lab.

He had become well known around the moderate sized village as a kind-hearted young man, but distant all the same. Many women had approached him but he kindly refused any offers of courtship. He hadn't fully understood his own reasons for this, but one thing was certain. If his journey would be dangerous he didn't want to put anyone else in danger because of it. As he continued to walk, admiring the beautiful day, he wouldn't even realize he had almost passed by the lab.

Gintama's blissful nature among the day made him pass by Prof. Jupiter's lab without a care in the world. Usually every person that starts a new journey always go see the professor first before anything else. While traveling further ahead and almost walking into the sudden trail of bushes, a sign instantly crash down right in front of him with a message for the carefree guy. The sign points to two directions. One leading to the lab and the other leading to the danger zone.



Hopefully, the sign would obviously show him that he needs to make a U-Turn and head back, but just to be on the safe side there was an added precaution. A loud boom burst out of the sky as the voice of Prof. Jupiter echos throughout the entire New Moon Village for everyone to hear, including Gintama.

"Get your dumb, happy-go-lucky ass back over here boy!!"

The people in the two quickly ran back in their houses and slam the door in terror. Not knowing who was he telling that to, but didn't want to notice either.

Gintama looked at the sign with the same detached expression that was always on his face. When the booming voice of Jupiter wrung out over the area, Gintama dug in his ear.

"Man. I can already tell this guy is going to be scary. Shit, what the hell did I just get myself into?" He sighed and turned away from the sign with his hands in his pockets. He walked back over to the lab, going through the sliding doors and awaiting the person who had summoned him.

Inside the lab Gintama would see several types of machinery operating in synergy. Experiments were conducting at the same time with exotic materials from around the world of Elestia. At the same time, clicking sounds coming from a keyboard can be heard louder than the machines. At soon as the door slides back closed, a grimdark and sincere voice is echoed out while a fierce aura can be felt all around.

"I figured you would come, boy."

All of a sudden, Prof. Jupiter was right behind him this entire time without any warning or detection whatsoever. He awaits for Gintama to finally recognize him while keeping his anger, yet calm facial expression intact. His eyes leer down upon him intensely.

Gintama shivers at the tone of voice Jupiter uses. Even while keeping his calm expression up, Gintama couldn't deny that Jupiter held power and it scared him a bit. Once he realized Jupiter was behind him, his eyes widened and he stood still. If the Prof. had wanted, he could have killed him without any effort. Gintama swallowed the lump that was forming in his throat and quickly went through his options.

"You wouldn't have mentioned May if you just wanted to summon me here to kill me. I'm Gintama Simonova, I hope I haven't already angered you." He spoke calmly, hoping this approach would let him live. He humbled himself, which seemed like the smartest thing to do around this man.

Prof. Jupiter kept his glare at Gintama while his facial expression remains the same. He listen to what the young guy has to say and quickly cut him off by raising his palm towards him. The expression enough should silence him from speaking any further before he babbles on afterwards. He only let out ONE chuckle from hearing him speak out about killing him. Sure, it does sound tempting, but that isn't the case right now.

"Kill you? I would have already done that in a split second. However, I didn't call you for such brutal and fun action. Instead, I've summon you here because of the letter I'd sent out to you for this day. Today, you shall go out on your own to find out about May Sapphire. Before that, you'll have to agree on becoming a Pokemon Trainer. Understand?"

This was a joke. Prof. Jupiter knew Gintama was already a pokemon trainer. If he was telling him to start over and that there was a deeper meaning to this, then he already understood this.

"I'm willing to do whatever it takes to find her." Gintama spoke with emotion though he didn't know why he felt so strongly about her.

Prof. Jupiter nod from his answer and walk towards his computer, pressing a simple keystroke to teleport both of them to a secret room hidden somewhere inside the lab, but impossible to reach without having the professor himself to gain access. The room was pitch black instead of the usual pearl white for the typical Pokemon Trainer. He snap his fingers to activate his latest invention, the Spiral Pokemon Database. This system allows Prof. Jupiter to collect data among the vast numbers of wildlife Pokemon along with his own collection. The machine illuminate the dark room with a spiral green cyclone which displays the entire species of Pokemon throughout the world of Elestia by symbolizing them inside a Poke Ball. He spoke out sincerely in his usual tone.

"Choose your Pokemon, Gintama. For that it will be your eternal bounded partner."

Gintama already knew which pokemon he would choose as his partner. The same one he had chosen when he was in Hoenn.

"Torchic. Let's go Izanagi." He called and selected the image of Torchic. Whatever Jupiter had to give him or tell him could be done quickly now since Gintama would not deny anything he would say. He wanted to get going as soon as possible to train his pokemon to become great.

Prof. Jupiter let out a quick smirk from his quick response on which Pokemon Gintama wanted. The smirk quickly fade back to his sincere appearance as he begin to speak out and tap his finger on the holographic tabs right by him. He knew that the young trainer ran with Torchic during his early years before the sudden events so it was no surprise to see him start with his traditional partner. The tab that the professor pressed would open up a small chamber underneath near Gintama which contains a starter kit for new coming adventurers.

"Here is your starter set for the journey. Inside is five pokeballs, one of each healing utilities for burn/ paralyze/ice, and two potions. However, that is not all...."

He press another icon on the holographic tabs to bring up another chamber from underneath. This time it would be the legendary Pokedex. An all powerful item with unlimited wisdom and endless power.

"I believe the Pokedex doesn't need any introduction. You may remember this utility from your previous journeys. If not, then you'll have to figure it out yourself during your journey. However, you'll be the center of attention among the Dark Descendants. Death will lurk around you in every single corner to stop you upon your journey to find out about May Sapphire. Your decisions will reflect your own outcome in this cruel world."

The pokedex...a flash of a memory hit Gintama as he remembered the girl May using a device called a pokedex. He didn't remember if he had ever owned one though. Then the name Dark Descendants really sent off alarms in Gintama's head, but he couldn't remember exactly why for the life of him. Instead of dwelling on it, he decided to regain his memories by looking for answers, and by looking for May.

"Thank you Prof. I'll do my best, but I can't promise to always do the right thing." He spoke honestly. Gintama was always one to go by his personal feelings on subjects though he wouldn't force his beliefs on others. "I'll contact you if anything comes up." He called and would leave the lab as soon as Jupiter had teleported them back to the entrance. Gintama's journey had begun anew.

"Actually, I saw the sign up front for a parcel you needed delivered to Sunset Town. I'll be willing to take it for you since I'm headed that way anyway." Gintama folded his arms and looked back, his stance one of confidence as he felt a bit more comfortable around Jupiter. He held great respect for the man.

The confidence that Gintama shown to Prof. Jupiter reminded him of his younger days back when he was just like him. Letting out a quick smirk before toning it back to a serious expression from his request. He snap his fingers and a small mechanized hand would place the Parcel inside Gintama's starter set.

"Make sure you don't lose that Parcel, Gintama."
