What Goes Bump in The Night

*Kaito entered the Dusk City Pokemon Gym, owned by Shinta Valadores. She owns Dark-type pokemon so the proper way to go would be to use fighting type moves. However, Kaito decided not to throw in Fus until the battle with the leader herself. Looking around, Kai wondered what to find in this gym. His excitement and bright smile remained and would help bolster his spirits throughout the course of the gym.*

Kaito: "Alright then... Let's get going!"

As soon as Kaito stepped foot into the gym, he would be met with a reception area and beyond it was nothing but darkness. It was a pitch blackness that not even Lucario's aura would be able to sense through. Standing at the side of the darkness, looking quite nervous was a middle aged man with sun glasses.

"Hey there champ in the making! I'm the Gym Helper, Dustin Ngyen. I'm here to give all of the potential champions advice and a bit of help! Pleasure to meet you!"

After the introductions, Dustin would turn to look into the pitch darkness.

"As you can see, Shinta runs a dark gym...as in you literally can't see JACK SHIT dark! I wouldn't even go in there! But it gets worse. To find Shinta in this mess, you're going to have to navigate through a pitch black maze. Only when you get to certain points will a light shine forth on the way to go. But be warned, if you hit a wall, your pokemon will be hit with status ailments too! So in commemoration for your first gym challenge, I want you to take these!"

"Good luck kid, and go for it!"

Kaito: "Hello there Dustin! I'm Kaito!"

*Once the introductions were said and done, Dustin would show him the gym. It was literally dark as far as the eye can see. Kaito gulped and trembled slightly. He was afraid of the dark in a sense. He's still just a young boy so the dark frightens him just a smidge. However, the fright was taken away the minute Dustin mentioned that his pokemon could afflicted with ailments should he touch the walls. Not wanting to risk that, Kaito returned Fus to his ball, took a deep breath, then accepted the items. Kaito would then step down and walk into the gym's maze, unknowing of what direction to go. While in this darkness, Kaito's necklace grew brighter on the Moon's side. With that light, Kai was able to see his hands and clothing rather easily. This gave him little relief and he'd continue onward into the maze, staying directly in the middle of the path as to avoid the walls.*

Kaito: "You can do this... You can do this..."

As soon as Kaito's pendant would glow, the darkness would snuff it out, making sure Kaito could see nothing, not even the insides of his eyelids. As he walked in a straight line, he would feel a gust of wind. The wind would disorient him slightly, making him forget which way he had been walking.

Choice time. You will need to make rolls at certain points to make sure you stay on the correct path. Depending on how high you roll, there will be no consequence as you carry on. If you roll medium, there may be a consequence but you will be able to carry on. However, if you roll low, there will be a consequence and you will probably be turned completely around.

On top of that, you will have to choose which direction to go, and it will effect whether your roll is good or bad.

A single spotlight would appear over Kaito. Two arrows would be at his feet, one pointing left, one pointing right.

Kaito: "No light is safe from this darkness..."

*The light from his necklace was snuffed out and thats what made him worry further. As he came upon the arrows, Kaito would choose to go left into the maze.*

Random number (1,20) :

Kaito would feel a warmth as he moved down the left path. However, his arm would graze a wall and that warmth would become a burning sensation.

(All party pokemon have been burned)

His walk wouldn't last too long and he would end up in another spotlight. This time, an arrow was pointing up and another arrow was pointing left again, forward from the direction he was facing.

Kaito: "Stick to the left, as big sis always said..."

*Kaito would move left again. He'd look at his arm and see that it was burned just from touching the wall. He grimaced but continued walking. Kai thought about it and wondered if his pokemon were burned as well. They probably were, and he began to worry. He wouldn't let this shake him up, no instead he'd let this become a pay back in the end when he finally challenges Shinta.*

Random number (1,20) :

As soon as Kaito took a step onto the left path, he would hit a dead end and be pushed back by a massive wind. He would end up right back in the last spotlight he had come from. He would need to choose which way to go again, Left or Right.

*Kaito would be blown back and started to flail his arms about*

Kaito: "WHHHHHOAH!!!"

*Ending up back at square one. Kai would groan and choose the left path again. He wasn't going to be persuaded to stick to the left just because of one dead end.*

Random number (1,20) :

Kaito would reach the same spotlight again. Once more the choices for Up or Left would be shown. The music got louder in the background...

*Kaito saw the choices then looked behind him. Was that music playing? Probably not, it was probably just something that was in his head. Why did he even look back anyways? Its not like he could see beyond the spot light. In any case he continued, but decided to go up this time around.*

Kaito: "Hope I'm not trapped here forever... That would suck..."

Random number (1,20) :

Kaito would be rewarded with stairs, going up in the gym! When he reached the next floor, there would be a flickering spotlight ahead.

"You've made it this far. Impressive. But you've still got just a bit longer to go."

Shinta herself stood in the flickering spotlight. Suddenly the light would flicker out and when it came back on, she would be gone.

Stepping into the spotlight, there would be three arrows. One pointing forward, one pointing left, one pointing right.

*Kaito continued onward and was greeted by stars and a shining spotlight. The spotlight revealed the gym leader, Shinta Valadores. He'd gulp as he saw her and saw the arrows being lit up by the spotlight over him. He has come far, now Kai has to go a bit further. Kai decided to take another left and wondered where this place would lead him.*

Kaito: "That was her... I'm so close, I have to keep going!"

Random number (1,20) :

Kaito would have made the right choice again, his path not being hindered at all and not hitting a wall. The music would be blaring now.

As he reached the next spotlight. The world would be submerged into darkness. Now was the final chance. With no clue as to which way the arrows were going, how would he choose?

*As Kaito made it towards the next spotlight there would be no hints. This was ultimately his choice, and well he had to take it. Do or die time, now or never. With that, Kaito decided to go forward. The music blaring, but his focus remaining stabled, he'd take the steps to going forward and hopefully getting to battle with the gym leader.*

Kaito: "Moment of truth, Kaito..."

Random number (1,20) :

Kaito would immediately hit a wall and the force of wind blasted him backwards into the last spotlight. Ironically enough, that wasn't the worst thing that could've happened.

(All Pokemon have been Poisoned)

The spotlight above Kaito would turn purple, and all of his pokeballs would suddenly begin to blink red, indicating his pokemon's declining health. Once they turn completely red, the pokemon would be fainted. And if they turned black...the pokemon inside will die.

*Kaito would have been blasted back and seen what had happened to his pokemon.*

Kaito: "No!"

*Deciding that the best way to make sure they wouldn't die would be to take them out of their pokeballs one by one and heal them up. First off would be Shaker. Kaito would take out an antidote and apply it to Shaker which would cure him of his poison. Shaker would thank Kai by hugging his leg then nodding before being placed back into his ball. Fus was second, he nodded at Kaito as if to give him motivation. With the motivation he quickly healed him using an antidote. Last but not least, was Aeolus. She was a little peeved at the fact that he got her poisoned. Chuckling a little, he'd use a full heal on her in order to cure her of her poison. Smirking and flipping her comb, Aeolus let Kai knows that he can get through this. Now with them all healed and in their balls, Kaito decided to go left this time around. He wasn't going to let this maze defeat him.*

Kaito: "We can do this..."

Kaito would find himself right back at the arrow less spotlight, and once more, the lights would cut themselves off, plunging him into the darkness. His choice once more, which direction would he go?

Kaito: "Lets try going up this time around..."

*Kaito held his breath, gulped, then decided to take the up path. The motivation from his pokemon let him know he can do this. Another person that came to mind was Minami. If she could do it, then so could he.*

Random number (1,20) :

As soon as Kaito took a step up, he would feel himself transported over darkness, the force of it wrapping around his entire body. By the time he could open his eyes, he would be standing on a glass floor. Everything around him would be shining with an eerie black and purple light. In front of him would be a throne. Shinta sat in the throne and behind her burned a giant purple flamed torch as the lights that it cast were pitch black.

She stood up and torches around the room instantly lit up with purple flames. The floor beneath them, being glass, showed the gym that was below them and the path that Kaito had took to reach Shinta.

"Welcom, Kaito Inaki."

She spoke with a high mannered voice, yet extremely seductive. Her hips swayed as she took a step towards the battlefield.

"I am Shinta Valadores, one of the three 1st Star gym leaders. I am here to gauge your strength and conviction on your path to defeating all of the pokemon gym."

She stopped at the battlefield, brushing a strand of hair from her face and causing the rim of the battle field to also burst into purple flames.

"You have no gym badges. Pity, I was looking forward to going all out against you. But since I am your first gym battle, let me show you why I have earned the right to be called a Gym Leader. Hmhmhm."

Shinta stomped one of her heeled feet, making the flames around the battle field fade away and showing a clear sign of where the boundaries of the field were.

"Come Kaito-chan. You're not afraid of the dark are you?"

*Kaito looked in awe. She was beautiful, her voice luring, the tone was commanding. Her movements themselves commanded the battlefield to come to life. Stepping onto the battlefield, Kaito's face grew determined and fearless. His heartbeat with excitement, he already began sweating but it wasn't out of fear, it was out of anticipation. His face soon broke and what broke forth was the biggest grin he could muster.*

Kaito: "I Kaito Inaki, declare that I shall give you, Shinta Valadores, a run for your money! I don't fear the Dark... I EMBRACE IT!"

*With that his grin disappeared behind the once more determined face. Without hesitation, Kaito placed a hand over Shaker's pokeball. He'd grip it tightly then threw the ball with great force and conviction. The ball hit the ground, blew itself open, and revealed Shaker the Larvitar. With a mighty cry it jumped up and down, greatly excited for this match as well.*

Kaito: "Let's do this Shaker!!!"

Shaker: "TAAAAAAAAAAAR!!!"

Shinta's pokeball appeared in a swirl of darkness. She smiled seductively before tossing it into the air where it froze over before shattering, sending her pokemon to the battlefield below.

"Let's see you embrace the darkness, Sodaiyuki!"

Sodaiyuki, the Sneasel, came out with a crystal sash over its body. It stood up and allowed the crystal sash to gently float away into the darkness.

"The challenger is allowed the first move."

Shinta said as she and Sodaiyuki both took an elegant posture.

*Kaito was stunned. Her Sneasel looked powerful indeed, but whose to say that his pokemon were some Average Joe's? Thinking back to when he first fought Ricko, he realized that he could combined moves to make them more effective, he wondered if Shaker could handle the same. With a fierce voice, Kaito issued out his command to Shaker.*

Kaito: "Screech out a Wicked Storm!!"

*Shaker rubbed his head but then it clicked, use Screech to lower the opponents defenses while at the same-time using the screech to whip up the Sandstorm. Building up for a massive yell, Shaker opened its giant maw and let loose a good ol' fashioned Screech. At the sametime, a Sandstorm began to brew and fill up the arena between the two battlers.*
